In order to promote the nation’s welfare and find common ground among various economic perspectives, the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Association of Islamic Economists (DPP IAEI) organized a symposium titled “The Contributions of Pancasila Economics, Islamic Economics, and Conventional Economics: Toward Socially Just Development in Indonesia.” The event, featuring Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto and Minister of Religious Affairs and IAEI Chairman Prof. Nasaruddin Umar, took place on Tuesday, September 8, in the Graha Sawala Room, Ali Wardhana Building, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Jakarta.
Through this webpage, we provide the presentation materials and the speakers’ papers from the symposium as a reference for academics, practitioners, policymakers, students, and the general public who wish to delve deeper into the concept of integrating these economic perspectives. These materials include conceptual analyses, comparative reviews, and strategies regarding the synergy between the conventional economic system, the Islamic economy, and the Pancasila economy, with a strong emphasis on how these three perspectives can complement—rather than conflict with—one another to realize the vision of national development.
We hope this material will serve as a learning resource, enrich the national academic discourse, and support the formulation of economic policies that are more inclusive, equitable, and grounded in the nation’s values of social justice.
Enjoy reading, and we hope you find it useful.
