The East Java Regional Leadership Council of the Indonesian Islamic Economists Association (IAEI) together with the IAEI Central Leadership Council and the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Airlangga held a Regional MSME Development Workshop on Monday (26/6) at Fadjar Hall, FEB Universitas Airlangga. The trainers for the workshop were Dr Abdul Rahem, M.Kes., Apt, Head of the Halal Centre of Universitas Airlangga, and Untung Basuki, Head of East Java Customs I.
Dr Abdul Rahem highlighted the importance of halal certification and market networking for MSMEs, given the large number of service products and food/beverages contaminated with haram elements. Halal certification not only increases consumer confidence and competitiveness, but also facilitates the export of MSME products.
