The Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Islamic Economists Association (IAEI) inaugurated the Regional Leadership Council (DPW) and several IAEI Commissariats in West Sumatra to strengthen the organization's contribution to the development of Islamic economics and finance in the region. The inauguration ceremony took place at the Anggun Nan Tongga Hall, Bank Indonesia Representative Office (KPwBI) for West Sumatra Province, on Tuesday (October 27).
The event began with the reading of a Decree (SK) by Delyuzar Syamsi, Head of Organizational Development, Regional Development, and IAEI Commissariats. The IAEI Secretary General, Dr. Sutan Emir Hidayat, led the inauguration.
The inauguration was attended by West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi, Chair of the Advisory Board of the IAEI West Sumatra Regional Executive Board (DPW), and Andy Setyo Biwado, Deputy Representative of Bank Indonesia (KPwBI) for West Sumatra Province.
In his remarks, the IAEI Secretary General expressed his hope that the newly inaugurated management would strengthen synergy with all stakeholders in the Islamic economic and financial ecosystem, including Bank Indonesia, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the Regional Committee for Islamic Economics and Finance (KDEKS), the Islamic Economic Community (MES), the financial industry, and the government.
"Our spirit is one of collaboration. We synergize with all stakeholders: the government, Bank Indonesia, KDEKS, Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), and universities," said Sutan Emir.
He also encouraged the IAEI West Sumatra management to contribute ideas and innovations to advance the Islamic economy and finance. He emphasized that regional potential needs to be developed through collaborative programs that connect science, policy, and business practices to provide tangible benefits to the community.
West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi emphasized the importance of IAEI's role as a government partner in developing the sharia economy in the region.
"We hope IAEI can continue to synergize with the government in developing the sharia economy in West Sumatra, especially through studies, research, and policy recommendations that align with regional potential and provide tangible benefits to the community," Mahyeldi said.
Andy Setyo Biwado, Deputy Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for West Sumatra Province, also expressed his support for strengthening this ecosystem. Collaboration between IAEI and various stakeholders is expected to expand the contribution of education, research, and innovation in the development of the sharia economy and finance.
Meanwhile, Prof. Ahmad Wira, Chairman of the IAEI Regional Executive Board for West Sumatra, expressed his appreciation and congratulations to the newly inaugurated administrators. He encouraged all administrators to carry out the organization's mandate by prioritizing three key principles: collaboration, innovation, and impact.
These three principles are expected to serve as the foundation for designing and implementing work programs so that IAEI's presence is increasingly felt by the community and stakeholders in the sharia economy.
The inauguration included the management of the IAEI West Sumatra Regional Executive Board (DPW) and several university commissioners, including Andalas University, STAI YASTIS Padang, STAI Ar Risalah, STAI YDI Lubuk Sikaping, UPI YPTK Padang, UIN Imam Bonjol, and Nahdlatul Ulama University of West Sumatra.
Strengthening the organizational structure at the campus level is expected to expand the scope for collaboration between academics, researchers, students, government officials, and industry players in developing Islamic economics and finance.
Through strengthening regional and commissioner management, IAEI is expected to play a greater role in bridging academic thought, government policy, and industry needs. Targeted collaboration is expected to encourage the development of Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), Muslim-friendly tourism, and various other potential sectors as part of strengthening the Islamic economy and finance in West Sumatra.
