The Central Executive Board (DPP) of the Indonesian Association of Islamic Economists (IAEI) successfully held the IAEI South Kalimantan (Kalsel) Regional Network Consolidation meeting on Friday, June 19, 2026, in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. This meeting marked a crucial step in efforts to strengthen organizational governance and align strategic programs at the regional level.
The consolidation meeting was attended by members of the central executive board, including the Executive Vice Chair of the IAEI DPP, Drs. Agustianto Mingka, M.A., and the Chair of Division I for Organizational Development, Regional Strengthening, and Branch Offices, Prof. Dr. A. Jajang W. Mahri. The meeting was also attended by representatives from various strategic institutions, including Bank Indonesia and the Financial Services Authority (OJK), as well as a number of universities in South Kalimantan such as UIN Antasari, Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), STIMI, UNISKA, Muhammadiyah University of Banjarmasin, the Open University, Hasnur Polytechnic, STIE Nasional Banjarmasin, IBITEK, IAI Darussalam, Poliban, STIE Pancasetia, and DPS RS Islam Sultan Agung.
During the forum, the IAEI Central Executive Board (DPP), together with the consolidation participants, reached a strategic decision: the formation of a Forming Committee to prepare for the South Kalimantan Regional Conference (Musywil). This committee consists of representatives from each participating university and relevant institution. All parties agreed that the Regional Conference would be held no later than one month after this consolidation meeting.
The Executive Vice Chair of the IAEI Central Executive Board, Drs. Agustianto Mingka, M.A., emphasized in his remarks that organizational strengthening is the top priority. “Regional consolidation is a strategic step to strengthen the organization’s foundation while expanding IAEI’s contributions in the region. “We aim for sustainable strengthening through capacity building for executives, network development, and the activation of programs that provide tangible benefits to the community,” he said.
Currently, the IAEI South Kalimantan Regional Chapter holds great potential with a total of eight local chapters. This consolidation forum also serves as an opportunity to begin reactivating the six inactive local chapters and to open the door for the formation of more than 20 new local chapters at various universities in the region.
This step aligns with IAEI’s 2026 strategic agenda, which focuses on institutional strengthening and the digitization of membership data. With this organizational restructuring, IAEI is optimistic that South Kalimantan can become a more active and inclusive hub for the development of Islamic economics and finance, making a significant contribution to regional economic development. According to Prof. Jajang, “This consolidation model in South Kalimantan is very comprehensive and effective in strengthening our network. I am optimistic that this model can serve as a best practice that we can replicate to strengthen our organization in other regions.”
