The Chairman of the Indonesian Association of Islamic Economists (IAEI), who is also the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. KH. Nasaruddin Umar, M.A., officially inaugurated the Executive Board of the IAEI Regional Leadership Council (DPW) for Riau Province along with five IAEI branches in Riau Province. The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Amal Ikhlas Mosque, the Riau Provincial Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, on Saturday (June 27).

This event marked a historic milestone as it was the first event held at the Amal Ikhlas Mosque since its inauguration. The atmosphere of the inauguration, which took place at this house of worship, further strengthened the spirit of making the mosque a center for da’wah, collaboration, and the development of Islamic economics and finance that benefits the community.

In his remarks, Prof. Nasaruddin Umar stated that this inauguration held special significance as it was the first time he had personally inaugurated the IAEI Regional Executive Board since assuming the position of IAEI Chairman. He expressed his hope that the IAEI Riau Provincial Executive Board would serve as a pioneer and model for the formation and strengthening of IAEI leadership in various regions across Indonesia.

“I hope the IAEI Riau Provincial Executive Board can become a pioneer that inspires other regions. This new leadership should be able to build a solid organization and make tangible contributions to the development of the Islamic economy in Indonesia,” said Prof. Nasaruddin Umar.

The IAEI Chairman also emphasized the importance of building broad collaboration as the key to accelerating the development of the Islamic economy and finance. According to him, the IAEI Riau Provincial Branch is expected to be able to engage and forge close synergies with local governments, ministries and agencies, universities, industry, Islamic financial institutions, Islamic boarding schools, business actors, and various other stakeholders. Through strong collaboration, various Islamic economic development programs can be integrated to provide broader benefits to the community.

“IAEI must become a unifying force capable of bringing together the full potential of the Muslim community. Engage all stakeholders and build strong synergy so that Islamic economic programs do not operate in isolation, but rather reinforce one another and deliver tangible benefits to the community,” stressed the IAEI Chairman.

Concluding his remarks, Prof. Nasaruddin Umar urged all newly inaugurated board members to view the organization’s mandate as a field of service to the Muslim community. At the newly inaugurated Amal Ikhlas Mosque, he also offered a prayer that Allah SWT would always bestow blessings, ease, and strength upon the entire leadership of the Riau Provincial Branch (DPW) and IAEI Commissions in fulfilling the organization’s mandate.

The inauguration ceremony began with the reading of the IAEI Central Executive Board’s Decree by the Head of Division I of the IAEI Central Executive Board, Prof. Dr. A. Jajang W. Mahri, followed by the administration of the oath of office and the inauguration of the executive board members by the IAEI Chairman.

On this occasion, the IAEI General Chair inaugurated the Executive Board of the IAEI Riau Provincial Branch, chaired by Boy Syamsul Bakhri, S.E., M.Sc., Ak., QWP, CIC, RIFA. In addition, five IAEI branches were also inaugurated, namely the Tafaqquh Fiddin Islamic Institute Branch, the Edi Haryono Madani Islamic Institute (EHMRI) Branch, the Junjungan Bengkalis State Sharia Institute Branch, the Riau Islamic University (UIR) Branch, and the Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau State Islamic University (UIN Suska Riau) Branch. This inauguration represents a strategic step toward strengthening the IAEI’s network within the higher education sector and expanding the development of academically-based Islamic economics and finance in Riau Province.

The inauguration of the Riau Provincial Branch Executive Board and IAEI chapters marks the first step toward strengthening the IAEI’s role as a platform for collaboration among academics, the government, ministries and agencies, industry, Islamic financial institutions, Islamic boarding schools, and the general public. In line with the guidance of the IAEI Chairman, the new leadership is expected to build strong synergies with all stakeholders, integrate various Islamic economic and financial programs, and expand IAEI’s contribution to promoting the development of the Islamic economy, which provides tangible benefits for the Muslim community and the general public in Riau Province.
