The Central Leadership Council (DPP) of the Indonesian Islamic Economists Association (IAEI) inaugurated the Management of the IAEI Aceh Regional Leadership Council and 16 Commissariats throughout Aceh province on Saturday (26/11) in the Sigli Room, Kyriad Muraya Aceh Hotel. The inauguration agenda was accompanied by a Public Lecture with the theme "Sharia Economics and Finance from Aceh for Indonesia" delivered by Prof. Dr. Nurul Huda, MSi., as Chair of the Educational Human Resources Development Division, DPP IAEI who also inaugurated the management.
In his remarks, Chairman of DPW IAEI Aceh Prof. Dr. Nazaruddin A Wahid said, IAEI Aceh is committed to developing and socialising Islamic economics in Aceh. There are three important problems in Aceh, first, the low level of Islamic financial literacy. Second, Islamic economic human resources are not yet qualified. Third, the curriculum of Islamic economics in universities has not been harmonised.
Prof Dr Nurul Huda in his presentation hoped that Aceh would become a role model for other regions in implementing the Islamic economic master plan strategy, which includes halal value chain, strengthening Islamic finance, strengthening fatwa and regulations. According to Nurul Huda, several challenges must be faced, for example, the existence of Qanun LKS in Aceh has a negative impact if not managed properly, such as the lack of spirit of business competition between Islamic banks. "Therefore, the Qanun must be a positive point for LKS, namely there must be more and more Islamic financial institutions accompanied by product improvement and innovation," he said.
