The Indonesian Association of Islamic Economists (IAEI) in collaboration with PT Pegadaian successfully held The Gade Sociopreneurship Goes To Campus (TGSC) Roadshow with the theme “Young Generation Innovations Towards a Sustainable Future”, on Tuesday (8/10) at Student Central Campus UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya.
Muh. Ariyadi Purwanto, Regional Leader of PT Pegadaian Kanwil XII, opened the activity which aims to encourage students to better understand the financial sector and improve economic literacy, as well as financial inclusion so that they want to try or transact in the financial sector.
“Pegadaian also helps the government in terms of improving financial literacy among students,” he said.
Ariyadi further said, “Many students are currently trapped in online loans (pinjol). Pegadaian has a digital system Gold Savings product that is suitable for Gen Z students to plan their financial future.”
In addition, Pegadaian also collaborates with IAEI to support the development of student business innovation through the Sociopreneurship program. Students are given the opportunity to create renewable businesses that are in line with the concept of sustainable business and benefit the surrounding community.
“We want this cooperation program to be sustainable so that it can encourage financial literacy and inclusion among students. They can also plan for the future to avoid online loans,” said Ariyadi.
Dr. Fatma, General Treasurer of IAEI and Head of UIN Sunan Ampel Career Center, appreciated the Pegadaian CSR program that has been running for three years. According to her, this program is very important in developing students' sociopreneurship spirit and helping them overcome various business obstacles, including capital.
“This program is a forum for students who have their own businesses or need support to develop. Thank you to Pegadaian for assisting students for the past three years,” said Dr. Fatma.
The Gade Sociopreneurship Challenge (TGSC) 2024 is a competition for creative ideas and social entrepreneurship incubation that has been initiated by PT Pegadaian in collaboration with IAEI, since the past few years. The young generation is expected to be able to create sustainable businesses that can bring benefits to the environment and surrounding communities.
