      Inauguration of IAEI Malaysia Board: Synergy Towards Advanced Islamic Economics and Finance

      The new management of the Regional Leadership Council (DPW) of the Indonesian Association of Islamic Economists (IAEI) Malaysia, an organization that accommodates academics and practitioners of Islamic economics in Malaysia, was officially inaugurated for the period 2024-2028 on Friday (23/2) at the International Institute for Halal Research and Training (INHART), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Deputy Chairman VI of the DPP IAEI and his staff, academics, and practitioners both offline and online via zoom connection.

      IAEI is one of the largest professional organizations in Indonesia with extensive connectivity. Meanwhile, DPW IAEI Malaysia is one of the Regional Executive Boards abroad besides the UK, Bahrain and Germany.

      The inauguration was conducted by Dr. Irfan Syauqi Beik, Deputy Chairman VI of the DPP IAEI. In his speech, he emphasized the strategic role of DPW IAEI Malaysia in the development of Islamic economics and finance, considering that Malaysia is one of the countries with the largest Islamic finance industry globally.

      "The existence of DPW IAEI Malaysia is expected to be a bridge between Indonesia and Malaysia in developing Islamic economics and finance," said Dr. Irfan. "DPW IAEI Malaysia can also be a platform for academics and practitioners in both countries to exchange ideas and ideas, as well as conduct research and development collaborations," he added.

      Prof. Irwandi Jaswir, MSc, PhD, who was elected as Chairman of DPW IAEI Malaysia for the period 2024-2028, expressed his commitment to make DPW IAEI Malaysia a leading organization in the development of Islamic economic and financial research, as well as the halal industry.
      "We want to make DPW IAEI Malaysia a reference center for the development of world Islamic economics and finance," said Prof. Irwandi. "We also want to contribute to the development of the halal industry, which has great potential to become one of the main drivers of the economic sector in Muslim-majority countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia."

      The management of DPW IAEI Malaysia for the 2024-2028 period is supported by a board of trustees consisting of leading experts in Islamic economics and finance, including Prof. Dr. M. Firdaus, SP, M.Si (Attache of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia to Malaysia) and Dr. Muntaha Artalim Zaim (Assistant Prof. IIUM).

      This inauguration also marks a new chapter for DPW IAEI Malaysia in contributing to the development of Islamic economics and finance. In this management, there are four main research areas that are the focus of program development, namely the Halal Industry, Islamic Banking and Finance, Philanthropy and Islamic Social Finance, and Sustainability and Economic Development Research fields. With the synergy and collaboration between academics, practitioners, and Islamic economic leaders, DPW IAEI Malaysia is expected to play an important role in realizing the economy and Islamic finance. 

       

      About DPW IAEI Malaysia

      The IAEI Malaysia Regional Executive Board (DPW) 2024-2028 was formed to strengthen contributions and synergies in the development of Islamic economics and finance. This organization is also a forum for academics and practitioners in Malaysia to gather so that they can develop research on Islamic economics and finance, as well as the halal industry that can benefit Indonesia and Malaysia.
