The Regional Leadership Council (DPW) of the Indonesian Islamic Economists Association (IAEI) Aceh together with the IAEI Central Leadership Council (DPP) held a Regional MSME Development Workshop on Friday (25/11) at the Sigli Room, Kyriad Muraya Hotel Aceh. The workshop, which was attended by more than 50 participants of MSME players in Aceh, is expected to be the spearhead in improving Aceh's economy through innovation and digitalisation of MSME product marketing.
Chairman of DPW IAEI Aceh, Prof. Dr Nazaruddin AW, MA in his speech gave three messages to MSME players. First, MSME players are expected to provide their integrity so that Aceh MSMEs are able to produce innovative products and can compete in the global market. Second, MSME players are expected to do good and optimal marketing by utilising digital technology. Third, MSME players should educate and regenerate the community so that they can give birth to new MSME players.
In line with the Chairperson of DPW IAEI Aceh, the Executive Secretary, Wahyu Jatmiko, Ph.D., in his remarks representing the Secretary General of IAEI, also emphasised MSME players to be technologically literate in order to gain a larger market share. MSMEs are the back bone of the economy that is able to absorb 97 per cent of the workforce (BPS).
The workshop was opened by the Aceh Cooperatives and MSMEs Office, represented by the Head of Supervision and Inspection, Aswar, S.Hut, MAP. In his remarks, Aswar hoped that MSME players could become major players in improving Aceh's economy. Moreover, there will be a National Sports Week (PON) event for Aceh and North Sumatra in 2024.
The trainer for the Regional MSME Development Workshop was delivered by Dr Rambat Lupiyoadi, S.E., M.E., Master Trainer DEA and Lecturer at the Faculty of Business Economics, University of Indonesia. Rambat emphasised MSME players to always be enthusiastic in building their business, by paying attention to the contracts in business as Muslim entrepreneurs. In this activity, local MSME products in Aceh were also exhibited, such as onion cakes, bakpia, coffee, handicrafts and others. This Regional MSME Development Workshop is part of the IAEI Roadshow Workshop Series as part of the Road to Muktamar V IAEI 2023 Programme.
