The Vth Congress of the Islamic Economists Association (IAEI) was successfully held on Thursday-Friday, May 15-16, 2025 at Puri Agung Grand Sahid Jaya, Jakarta. This congress was not only a place for gathering and discussion of Islamic economists, but also marked the re-election of Sri Mulyani Indrawati as Chairman of IAEI for the period 2025-2030 by acclamation. With the theme “Strengthening Contributions Through Innovation and Synergy”, the Congress emphasized the importance of innovation in answering the multidimensional challenges faced by the Islamic economy. This congress became a strategic forum to strengthen friendship, synergize the roles of stakeholders, and formulate concrete steps in strengthening the contribution of the national Islamic economy.
The agenda, which lasted for two days, discussed several trial agendas starting with the Accountability Report of the IAEI General Chairperson for the 2019-2025 Period, Discussion of the Rules of Procedure of the Congress, discussions related to the Articles of Association and Bylaws (AD / ART), as a basis for strengthening IAEI's institutional structure. Furthermore, the trial discussed the views of the regional and commissariat administrators regarding the future direction of IAEI as well as program recommendations for the upcoming period.
The session continued with an important agenda in determining the direction of IAEI's leadership in the future, the election of the IAEI General Chairman for the period 2025-2030. In the session, Sri Mulyani Indrawati, was re-elected as Chairman of IAEI for the period 2025-2030. In her speech, she said that global turmoil is an ongoing reality, so IAEI is required to be an active actor capable of providing solutions to these challenges.
“I hope that all components of IAEI can continue to build synergy and the pillars of IAEI will grow stronger and provide benefits to the people and the nation.”
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of togetherness in building IAEI, like the arrangement of bricks that support each other to form a strong building. He also hoped that a new generation would be born with tough, progressive, and ever-evolving Islamic economic thinking. According to him, the V Congress is not the end of a process, but a new beginning in drawing up a map of Indonesian civilization that carries more advanced Islamic values.
The series of activities of the V Congress was closed with the submission of the Congress decision letter on the determination of the General Chairperson for the 2025-2030 Period and documentation with all IAEI V Congress participants.
