The Indonesian Association of Islamic Economists (IAEI) held a Halal Bihalal and National Work Gathering (Silaknas) attended by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, along with all administrators and stakeholders in a hybrid manner on Friday (10/6) at the Dhanapala Building Hall, Jakarta. This agenda raised the theme "Road to Muktamar V IAEI: Strengthening Contributions Through Innovation and Synergy".
Chairperson of IAEI, Sri Mulyani Indrawati, who is also the Indonesian Minister of Finance, revealed that IAEI always innovates and adapts to answer the various challenges faced. This strategic role is not only shown at the national level, but also at the international level by actively contributing to several multilateral forums on Islamic economics.
Vice President of Indonesia and Chairman of the IAEI Advisory Board, Prof. Dr. (HC.) K. H. Ma'ruf Amin hopes that IAEI can take advantage of Indonesia's G20 Presidency to offer sharia economy as a solution for an inclusive and sustainable global economic recovery.
"As a country with the largest Muslim population, we show that Islamic economics is a solution for a global economic recovery that is equitable and can touch all levels of society," he said.
During 2020-2021, IAEI has launched several excellent community empowerment programmes, including the television show "Economic Challenges Special Ramadhan", the publication of the International Journal of Islamic Microfinance (IJIMF), as well as the publication of dozens of scientific papers, the launch of BREAKS (Bulletin of Islamic Economics and Finance Research), the launch of Books, and the signing of the MoA Strategic Sharia Banking Management with PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (Tbk) with 5 leading universities in Indonesia. IAEI also launched a new social media programme namely EKSIS (Islamic Economics and Strategic Issues), KHAZANAH, HORIZON, StayHalal and publication of popular writings of the board in the mass media.
The inauguration of the Road to Muktamar V IAEI is also the right moment for administrators and members to always work together in planning and implementing the best innovations, especially for the sake of increasing Islamic economic literacy in Indonesia which still tends to be low and to advance the national Islamic economy.
"Hopefully this meeting will connect and strengthen the relationship and synergy of IAEI members that has been very well established so far and will give birth to the best innovations to build Indonesia." Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Chairman of IAEI/Minister of Finance RI.
