The Regional Leadership Council (DPW) of the Indonesian Association of Islamic Economists (IAEI) East Java together with the Central Leadership Council (DPP) of IAEI and the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Airlangga held a Teaching Material Workshop with the theme "Zakat and Waqf Management" on Tuesday (27/06) at Fadjar Hall FEB Universitas Airlangga. This workshop was attended by no less than 50 participants who came from various circles, academics, practitioners, and zakat and waqf stakeholders in the East Java region.
The workshop was held to provide training and consultation services to lecturers on Zakat and Waqf Management, as well as to socialise and improve understanding and competence in teaching and provide consultation assistance for problems experienced.
The event was held in two sessions, the first session was delivered by Mr Sigit Iko Sugondo, Practitioner of Community Empowerment, Regional Economy and Ziswaf Management, in his presentation told about the challenges of developing zakat and waqf management study programmes in Indonesian universities. He also explained in detail the stages of learning needs for zakat and waqf management, starting from governance and internal control systems, literacy and collection, sharia compliant to pregnancy management.
Meanwhile, in the second session delivered by Prof. Dr. Raditya Sukmana, MA, Chairman of Research and Scientific Development of DPP IAEI and Professor of Universitas Airlangga, in his presentation talked a lot about the competence of resources working in the zakat and waqf sector, especially for nazir who manage waqf assets.
"Nazir must have an entrepreneurial side. Nazirs who are unable to manage assets as planned, may partner. Just like the assets of utsman bin affan managed by competent people, MUIS with Warees in Singapore, and so on," said Prof. Dr Raditya Sukmana, MA.
This Teaching Material Workshop is a series of IAEI Roadshow Workshop Series which is part of the Road to Muktamar V IAEI 2023 Programme.
