The Regional Executive Board (DPW) of the Indonesian Association of Islamic Economists (IAEI) for Greater Jakarta held a Regional Conference on Friday (June 19) at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia (FEB UI), Jakarta. The event was attended by the Secretary General of the IAEI Central Executive Board (DPP), the Secretary of Division I of the IAEI DPP, Dr. Mega Oktaviani, the executive board members of the IAEI Jakarta DPW for the 2021–2024 term, as well as representatives from IAEI chapters throughout Jakarta.
The meeting served as a crucial milestone in the leadership transition and organizational strengthening of IAEI across the Greater Jakarta region. The event was officially opened by the Secretary General of the IAEI Central Executive Board, Dr. Sutan Emir Hidayat, who emphasized the importance of institutional strengthening, enhancing cooperation and synergy among members, expanding networks, and developing human resources, research, and publications as the main pillars of Islamic economic development in Indonesia.
The IAEI Secretary-General noted that IAEI currently has approximately 350 regional leadership networks and chapters throughout Indonesia. Specifically in Jakarta, there are 34 established chapters with the potential to expand to include more than 100 higher education institutions in the Jakarta area and its surroundings that can join the IAEI network.
“IAEI must continue to strengthen organizational consolidation and reactivate regional networks that are not yet operating optimally so that the organization’s contribution to the development of the Islamic economy becomes broader and more impactful,” said the Secretary-General in his opening remarks.
On this occasion, the Chairperson of the IAEI Jakarta Regional Executive Board (DPW) for the 2021–2024 term, Dr. Rahmatina A. Kasri, presented the executive board’s accountability report as a form of organizational accountability and continuity. The forum accepted the report as part of the evaluation process and leadership transition toward the next term.
The main agenda of the meeting was the election of the Chair of the IAEI Greater Jakarta Regional Executive Board for the 2026–2031 term. Three names were proposed as candidates: Prof. Nur Rianto Al Arif, Dr. Laily Dwi Arsyianti, and Dr. Erika Takidah. Following a deliberation process led by Sutan Emir Hidayat, the forum unanimously elected Prof. Dr. M. Nur Rianto Al Arif as Chair of the IAEI Greater Jakarta Regional Executive Board for the 2026–2031 term.
In his remarks, Prof. Dr. M. Nur Rianto Al Arif expressed his appreciation for the trust placed in him by all participants in the deliberation. He emphasized that the IAEI Jakarta Regional Executive Board is one of the regions with the largest number of branches and highly dynamic organizational activities, alongside the IAEI East Java Regional Executive Board.
According to him, this significant potential must be optimized by strengthening synergy and collaboration among the local chapters so that IAEI can make an even broader contribution to the development of the Islamic economy and finance.
“If each local chapter has one flagship program that is consistently implemented, it will create a major movement that has a tangible impact on the development of the Islamic economy,” said Prof. Dr. M. Nur Rianto Al Arif.
He also noted that in the near future, he, along with Dr. Laily and Dr. Erika Takidah, will form the new executive board of the IAEI Greater Jakarta Regional Chapter for the 2026–2031 term. The upcoming executive board is expected to be more active, cohesive, and capable of delivering programs relevant to the development of the Islamic economy at both the regional and national levels.
This IAEI Greater Jakarta Regional Chapter meeting is expected to serve as a catalyst for organizational strengthening, the consolidation of the Islamic economics academic network, and the acceleration of collaboration among academics, practitioners, and various stakeholders. With a spirit of unity and synergy, IAEI remains committed to strengthening its contribution to promoting the development of an inclusive and sustainable Islamic economy and finance in Indonesia.
