The Regional Leadership Council of the Indonesian Association of Islamic Economists (IAEI) of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) successfully held its 4th Regional Conference (Muswil). The event was held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the Training Center Hall of the State Islamic University (UIN) Mataram and was attended by the deans of Islamic economics and business faculties throughout NTB, as well as representatives of the IAEI commissariat from various universities.
The Regional Conference was chaired by Dr. H. Muhammad Irwan, MP, an academic from Mataram University, who oversaw the resignation process of the previous board (2023-2025) chaired by Prof. Dr. KH. Zaidi Abdad. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Baiq Elbadriati was officially elected as Chair of the IAEI NTB Regional Leadership Council for the 2026-2030 period.
In addition, the Regional Conference also produced several strategic program formulations and important recommendations. The main focus is to synergize with the government and related agencies to realize global halal tourism and halal industry in NTB, including the establishment of a pilot halal tourism village.
“We are fully committed to supporting the development of the sharia economy in NTB through studies, research, and community service,” said Prof. Dr. Baiq Elbadriati, Chair of IAEI NTB for the 2026-2030 period.
The event was also attended by advisors to the NTB IAEI Regional Working Committee, such as Prof. Dr. H. Mansur Afifi, Prof. Dr. H. Amir Aziz, and Prof. Dr. H. Muslihun. In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Mansur Afifi emphasized the importance of the active role of IAEI NTB in collaborating with all parties through studies and research to advance the Islamic economy in NTB.
The participating commissariats included UIN Mataram, Unram, Bumi Gora University, Azhar Islamic University Mataram, Muhammadiyah University Mataram, STIE AMM Mataram, UNU NTB, IAI Nurul Hakim, IAI Qamarul Huda, and STISDAFA Mataram.
“This regional conference is an important moment for IAEI NTB to continue contributing to the development of Islamic economics in NTB. We are committed to continuing to collaborate with the regional government and other institutions to realize global halal tourism and halal industry,” added Prof. Dr. Baiq Elbadriati.
