The Executive Board of the Central Leadership Council of the Indonesian Islamic Economists Association (IAEI) held an Annual Work Meeting chaired by the Chairman, Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Ph.D., on Friday, 17 March 2023 at the Ministerial Meeting Room, Ministry of Finance, Jakarta.
The agenda of the annual meeting discussed and evaluated the 2022 work programme and the strategic plan for the 2023 programme. The Chairman of IAEI gave appreciation for the programme performance report and achievements in 2022, and provided input to continue to improve the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of programme implementation for 2023, especially focusing on the preparation of the Congress in the middle of the political year.
The Chairman also gave direction to increase synergy programmes in the development of research related to Islamic financial economics and the real sector, and universities with many universities already establishing Islamic economics.

- Productive waqf development project through cash/cash waqf movement with the use of digitalisation.
- Study of the development of economic and financial policies and regulations that can be harmonised with sharia.
- Inclusiveness of Islamic economics to enlarge the scope of economic development, one of which is through the publication of an annual report on Islamic financial economics.
- Encourage programmes to improve the literacy and inclusion of Islamic financial economy through the synergy of government, industry and university programmes.
- Encourage policy-oriented research programmes and the real sector, by utilising research funds and research competition programmes such as Conferences and Olympiads.
"We all know that the relevance and contribution of IAEI has been recognised in various circles, in various forums, in various activities. What needs to be maintained and improved [is] the efficiency and effectiveness of the programme [for the development of sharia economy in Indonesia]," Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Ph.D, Chairperson of IAEI / Minister of Finance of Indonesia.
Also attending the agenda were the Vice Chairmen, Secretary General, Treasurer and Heads of Division.
