The Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Association of Islamic Economists (IAEI) officially opened the agenda for the Inauguration of the 2025-2030 Executive Board and the National Working Meeting (Rakernas) with the theme “Synergy to Make Indonesia the Center of the Islamic Economy of the World” on Thursday-Friday, November 27-28, 2025, at The Ritz -Carlton Jakarta.

The event began with the reading of the Formatur Team Report by Dr. Mustafa Edwin Nasution, who conveyed the journey of structuring the management after the 5th Congress, until Prof. Dr. Nasaruddin Umar was appointed as the General Chair of IAEI, replacing Dr. Sri Mulyani Indrawati. The agenda continued with the inauguration of the IAEI management for the 2025-2030 period, marking the start of the new management's term of office, which is expected to strengthen the role of IAEI in the development of Islamic economics in Indonesia.

The Chairman of IAEI, who is also the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Nasaruddin Umar, M.A., delivered a speech and provided guidance to the newly inaugurated IAEI management. The Chairman emphasized that the inauguration and National Working Meeting were strategic moments for the consolidation and strengthening of IAEI's role in supporting the national sharia economic agenda to realize Indonesia as the Center of the Islamic Economy of the World.

As the new leader of IAEI, he invited the board of directors to return to their original principles with a fresher approach. Through the vision of “Building a Civilized Economy,” there are three things that have been entrusted to become the “spirit” of IAEI's future movement.

"There are three important agendas that I have entrusted to become the direction of IAEI's future movement. First, to transform fiqh. Second, to ground the economy through strengthening the real sector. Finally, to integrate knowledge with manners," he said.

The Chairman also expressed his hope that IAEI could become a strong institution in consolidation, bold in producing strategic research through collaboration with various stakeholders, and become a “big tent” that shelters all Islamic economists.

The agenda continued with a keynote speech from the Chairman of the Advisory Council, Drs. H. M Jusuf Kalla. In his remarks, he emphasized that Islamic economics is part of muamalah, which is simple in nature, focusing only on prohibitions without adding rules that restrict the economic movement of the people.

“The main priority is to drive the economy of the people so that they are able to fully practice the pillars of Islam and achieve justice for all levels of society,” he said.

The event closed with a gathering between IAEI administrators and stakeholders. This session served as a space for consolidation to strengthen networks and encourage ongoing collaboration in the Islamic economy sector.
