The Regional Leadership Council (DPW) of the Indonesian Islamic Economists Association (IAEI) East Java held its Second Regional Meeting in connection with the end of the 2021-2025 term of the DPW IAEI East Java on September 17, 2025, at the Auditorium of Building G6, 3rd Floor, Faculty of Economics and Business, Surabaya State University (UNESA). This Regional Conference was held to elect the Chair and Secretary of the East Java DPW IAEI for the 2025-2029 term.

The Regional Conference agenda was opened by Dr. Khairunnisa Musari, M.MT, as Chair of the Formatur Team, explaining that the Regional Conference was divided into two plenary sessions for the submission of the Accountability Report of the Chair of the East Java IAEI Regional Executive Board 2021-2025, and the election of the Chair and Secretary of the East Java IAEI Regional Executive Board 2025-2029.

The Chairperson of the Regional Executive Board for the 2021-2025 period, Dr. Iskandar Ritonga, M.Ag., in his report conveyed various activities of IAEI East Java, both those initiated by the Regional Executive Board and the Commissariat, from 2021 to 2025. A total of 97 activities were held, and the funding was carried out independently by the activity organizers.

Dr. Khairunnisa Musari, M.MT., as Secretary for the 2021-2025 period, added that the most active IAEI Commissariat in East Java was the IAEI Commissariat of Muhammadiyah University Malang (UMM), due to the activities of the Sharia Economics Study Program of the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI) UMM, which used the IAEI logo in almost every activity it organized. This initiative can be adopted and emulated by other IAEI Commissions in East Java, considering that all forms of IAEI Commission activities are required to collaborate, synergize, and be an integral part of every study program, department, faculty, and even university activity.

Furthermore, the Second Plenary Session, which was the most anticipated agenda item for the Regional Assembly participants, was the election of the Chair and Secretary of the IAEI East Java Regional Executive Board (DPW) for the 2025-2029 term. Considering the proposals from the assembly participants, the participants agreed to elect and appoint Dr. Moch. Khoirul Anwar from UNESA and Dr. Khairunnisa Musari from UIN KHAS as the Chair and Secretary of the East Java IAEI Regional Working Committee for 2025-2029.

It is hoped that the duo of Chair and Secretary of the East Java IAEI Regional Working Committee, which is a campus duo under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendikitsaintek) and the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag), can bridge and harmonize Islamic economic and financial activists from various campuses in large and small cities, various campuses under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology as well as the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and be able to encourage them to move forward together in the development of Islamic economics and finance in East Java, Indonesia, and the world.

In conjunction with the Second Regional Conference of the East Java IAEI Regional Working Committee, a national seminar was also held with the theme “Ecotheology and Islamic Finance: Building a Fair Green Economy from Islamic Boarding Schools for the World” with speakers Prof. Dr. Sri Herianingrum, M.Si, Coordinator of the Master's Program in Islamic Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Airlangga University, and Dr. Setiawan Bin Lahuri, Lc., M.A, who is also the Vice Rector 2 of Darussalam University (UNIDA) Gontor. Prof. Dr. Sri Herianingrum, M.Si. presented the topic “Islamic Philanthropy and Solidarity of the Ummah in Facing the Climate Crisis.” Meanwhile, Dr. Setiawan Bin Lahuri, Lc., M.A. delivered a presentation entitled “The Role of Islamic Boarding Schools as Centers of Ecological Literacy, Circular Economy, and Islamic Social Finance.”

The East Java IAEI Regional Chapter coordinated 55 IAEI Higher Education Commissions and representatives attending the Second Regional Conference, totaling 48 IAEI Commissions, resulting in attendance exceeding two-thirds of the total IAEI Commissions in East Java.
